Bitteroot Lake

A beautiful and deep lake nestled in the mountains, approx. 20 miles West of Kalispell. Surrounded by timber with a nice boat launch on the far end.
It is over 240' deep in places, yet it has some secluded shallow bays to toss out the anchor and do some swimming. ( don't forget the snorkels, this is one of the clearest, pristine lakes around)

  • Wildlife life all around the lake including Bear, Elk, Moose and deer.
  • Fishing is good and the fish are delicious coming from the clean water. previously known for Kokanee Salmon and Rainbow trout (up to 26 pounds) there are now Yellow Perch and Smallmouth bass throughout the lake.
  • There are no Marinas on the lake but only 4 miles away there is gas, groceries, and lodging.

Echo Lake

Located at the base of the Mission Mountains, it is a smaller lake although sprawled out with many hidden bays, islands and shallow warm water areas.

  • Wildlife include Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear with a chance to catch a glimpse of all of them. ( a boat floating out from shore is a better place to see a bear, rather than in the trail in front of you)
  • The fishing is the best around for multi species: Lots a Yellow Perch to keep the Kiddos catching all day long. It also has trophy sized Large and Small Mouth bass, Northern Pike, Whitefish, Kokanee Salmon, crappies, and Blue gills.
  • No resorts on the lake, only 6 miles from gas and groceries in Bigfork Mt. and a great local cafe.

Lake Mary Ronan

A smaller lake with a very nice boat launch and brand new docks, adjacent  to a large forested State campground.
This lake is excellent for cruising, swimming ( it is one of the shallower lakes around) so it warms up for swimming and stays warm all Summer. Located 1/2 way between Kalispell and Polson and 7 miles from flathead lake and Wild horse island.

  • Fishing can be excellent for Kokanee salmon, Rainbow trout, Large Mouth Bass and Yellow Perch for the kiddos to bend their rod.
  • Lots of wildlife including Bear, Moose, Elk, and Deer.
  • A bird watchers paradise--Loons, cormorants,  Eagles, and Osprey that have been known to steal a Salmon off your hook.
  • It's a nice beginners lake, only 1 mile across and about 3 miles long.
  • 3 resorts for eating and docking and lodging.
